Value Pricing

Setting prices based on their perceived value

Value-based pricing (value pricing) is a pricing approach where you set prices according to the perceived value of a product to the customer rather than the cost of the product or the historical price of the product.

Value focuses on the price the potential customers are willing to pay based on the benefit offered by the purchase. It is important to measure the value of a product before setting the price too high.

Carix can assist clients in value pricing their products and services by:

  • Identifying the benefits you offer to your customers
  • Exploring your capabilities and advantages
  • Clearly defining the benefits you provide that distinguish you from your competitors
  • Surveying customers’ needs and wants
  • Defining customer segments – which customers go for the lowest price and which customers are willing to pay more for convenience etc?
  • Identifying opportunities for creating better value for customers
  • Exploring opportunities for accessing niche markets, for providing complementary products, and for unique trading opportunities (eg becoming sole supplier)
  • Understanding your business objectives, eg do you want greater market share or greater profitability?
  • Reviewing your product or service portfolio and identifying the commoditised offerings

We can help you understand the value of your products and services and therefore the price the products or services are worth.
